We are all in this together, aren’t we? That is what the world around us believes. Although that phrasing has endless significance when it comes to culture and community, it does not carry weight in reference to one’s personal health. As a community, it would be impossible to manage everyone’s environment, lifestyle, mindset and nutrition. That is why when faced with our own health, we really must take responsibility for ourselves and our own choices. I would go as far as saying all the decisions and actions you have made until now have contributed to your current state of wellbeing or lack thereof. This can be referred to as the principle of ultimate admittance.

What this unofficial law really means is that everything is in your power. Generally, people know that they should move their bodies and eat healthy foods. Now, how to move and what to eat specifically can be up for debate but across the board those 2 needs are agreed upon by most. People are often surprised when I mention that there is so much more to being healthy than diet and exercise. For instance, the environmental factors: air, water, light, sound, and emfs are incredibly important and often it is hard for someone to get well without improvements in these areas. It can be a bit top heavy trying to learn all there is to know on the subject, but I promise that once you get started the actionable items really are easy to implement and quick to enjoy. Let’s briefly talk about two of the environmental factors and how they could make a difference for our health journey. Let’s not dive too deep into too much information but briefly skim the surface on how these important environmental inputs can aid in achieving your health goals.

Air is one of my favorite environmental factors because it is so important but always overlooked by people pursuing health and wellness. Often, there are aspects about someone’s air that can be leveraged and improved for free. What is it about the air we breathe that is so special? Can I be so bold as to say it is the most important nutrient we take into our bodies? I’m not crazy I swear, let me explain. We can estimate that the human body can live for 40 days or so without food. We can also make an educated guess that a person can survive without water for about 3 days. Now try and hold your breath, if you’ve been practicing you might make it 3 minutes. From this over simplified example, we can make the claim that air is more important for our body’s survival than food and water. Now, how many of us live and work in a building where the windows are never open. That air in buildings is recycled over and over rarely delivering any meaningful amount from a fresh source. Now, imagine every day for years, you’ve spent your time going from home (box) to car (box) to work (another box) and vice versa. It is very likely that your body is craving fresh air. Making conscious decisions to go outside and opening windows/doors to allow fresh air into your environment are simple examples of how a small choice overtime can have massive returns on investment. Remember your body really needs oxygen for so much of its energy production!

Let’s shift from the environmental input of air and talk about good old H2O. In my previous blog, we addressed how tap water in most (if not all) places should be avoided. The water that comes out of your pipes should neither be drank nor bathed in. The skin is considered the largest organ of the body and it can absorb toxins through its surface. That’s why it’s just as important to bathe in clean water as is to drink. Creating properly filtered water, for you and your family, is an example of such a simple fix that has huge benefits. Access to water that is contaminated not only can make a person sick immediately depending on the contaminate present but can also slowly chip away at one’s health without realization. For example, imagine if you drank 2 liters of water everyday that had high levels of heavy metal toxicity. Your body would most likely be able to handle the processing and detoxification of those metals for a while but at some point, could overburden the detoxification pathways. If someone was healing from a serious health concern, processing that water in the body at the very least would be utilizing much needed energy that could be better spent in the healing process itself. By removing toxic elements like what is consumed in a person’s water one can effectively free up energy that the body didn’t have access to for an extended period. One of the best ways to help the body heal is to reduce all possible energy expenditures so the body can consolidate resources for efficient repair and healing.

Many people acknowledge that municipal water is contaminated and try to make a smart decision by purchasing and using a water filter often found within a pitcher, faucet or built-in refrigerator dispenser. These filters do a great job of removing large particles making it taste great, but the smallest most dangerous molecules remain present such as fluoride which is considered a neurotoxin. I will teach you the proper knowledge and tools so that worrying about water contamination is a thing of the past.

That’s really what it’s all about. Removing stress and making these strategies apart of your daily life so you don’t have to think about them but receive all the benefits. The path to having incredible health and longevity is not as far away as some might think. The best thing is to set yourself up for success and make small modifications as time goes on that don’t seem like burdens. Before you know it, you will be living a healthier more vibrant life. It would be nice to trust that this modern world is pristine and natural, but we must make small adjustments to modify our lifestyles so we can live optimally. The ball can’t get rolling until you make a pact with yourself to be a little bit better every day. Always remember, it’s one foot in front of the other.
